From Ripaberarda fraction of Castignano , you reach the Contrada Monte ( 663 m ) following the road to taking wheel and left after about 3 km, with gravel road that leads steeply uphill , at 1.2 km, at the same Contrada . You can park up to a group of dilapidated houses . Take the steep dirt road leading up to the Mount of the Ascension , flanking fields and mixed forests of oak and chestnut ; After 10 minutes up to a plateau appears in the Mount of the Ascension , whose summit is dotted with numerous antennas and repeaters . It keeps track on the evident that , at an altitude of 770 m, is entered on a cart ; at the fork go right and after a few meters turn left . You pass a clearing on a dirt road and keep going up to the edge of the woods . Here, keeping to the right , take the path that enters and reaches a balcony which you will discover the famous Calanques , Majella and Gran Sasso. You continue on the obvious trail, always keeping close to the edge , and arrived at an altitude of 910 m, it ignores a dirt road to the left and continue on the main trail that climbs to the top of the mountain . Reached the summit plateau , the height of a metal pole light , turning left , you gain the summit characterized by a large iron cross ( Rupe Santa Polisia , 1103 m). For the return trip takes 2:00 hours.
